Instructions
This installation shows the Shenzhen city. The material the work used are majority useless daily necessities from local residents. It’s similar to renovation of old buildings that make them “useful” to the artwork. I used the remainder of scrap woods from buildings under construction and a variety of daily necessities making into the basic framework, then applied old clothes and Chinese wool to decorate it. The city is made of human relations and energy.
コンセプト
深センに来てはじめに感じたことは、街じゅうが工事中。新しい建物が建設されたりリノベーションされたりと、街全体が日々進化しているように見える。 街の進化に関わるのは自分と同世代の人たち。彼らのエネルギーに包まれ、協力してもらいながらの作品制 作だった。
このインスタレーションは深センの街だ。 作品に使われているのは、事前に集められた深センの人々の無用になった生活用品。これらを作品に有用す ることは、古くなった建物を新しくリノベーションすることに似ている。建設中のビルの端材である木材と様々な生活用品で作品の基礎をつくり、人々が着ていた衣服や中国で製造された毛糸で建築していく。人々の繋がりとパワーで街はできていく。
観光地である電気街で見たLEDは、日本人の多くが持っている深センのイメージでわたしもそう思っていた。 ハイテクで煌びやかな街。これらのLEDは使われなくなった椅子の上にそびえ立っている。新しい建物も古 いものの上に建っている。
