Explanation
In this work, paying attention to “paper” from the living goods around myself, I am attempting to create a space with a traditional Japanese dry landscape style. I went to Ginkakuji Temple, Kenninji Temple and Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto after the exhibition was decided. I was deeply moved by the appearance of the dry landscape garden that I saw there. The reality that the art using the fragile material of sand outdoors dependent on the natural environment has been maintained and inherited continuously for over a hundred years. I got the courage to do what I am creating with a soft and transient material like yarn.
And, as I try to integrate matter and space, that is, trying infinite spread of matter, I think that dry landscape’s thought of feeling the universe and infinity in a limited space is very attractive.

解説
本作品では、身のまわりにある生活用品の中から「紙」に着目し、枯山水風の空間づくりを試みている。展示が決定したあとに行った京都の銀閣寺や建仁寺、 大徳寺。そこで目にした枯山水庭園の佇まいにとても感激した。自然環境に左右される屋外で、砂という脆い素材を使用した芸術が百何年と整備され続け受け継がれているという現実。主に毛糸という柔かく儚い素材で創作していることへの勇気をもらった。
そして物質と空間の一体化、すなわち物質の無限の広がりを試みるわたしには、限られた空間に宇宙や無限を感じよ、という枯山水の思考がとても魅力的に感じられるのである。
